Initial reflection
Now that you have met Dacher and Emiliana, take a moment to introduce yourself to your classmates—like-minded people from all over the world and every industry imaginable. Where are you from, what do you do, and what do you think makes you more, or less, happy at work?

Greetings from Muscat Oman. I'm a Canadian expatriate that has worked offshore for most of my life. I've observed that the concept of happiness for me has always been rooted in having a "growth mindset". I've realized that if I'm not learning, I'm not growing. That growth is about overcoming challenges, and being more empowered to make a difference in my own life, as well as in the lives of others. I also struggle with the term happiness because I've come to experience happiness in the conventional sense as temporal - it comes and goes in an instance; as a serendipitous occasion - whereas perhaps we mean more contentment - quiet confidence to take on challenges. I'm hoping the course tests and challenges that thinking to either further reinforce my understanding of it or invites me to change it with the ultimate goal of finding still more ways to improve my experience of "happiness".
